2016 NBA Champion and Brooklyn Nets Point Guard Kyrie Irving has reportedly donated $65,000 to the family of Shanquella Robinson. Irving’s donations, along with the contributions of others, will be used to cover the memorial service expenses incurred by the Robinson family as they lay their loved one to rest.
Shanquella Robinson was recently pronounced dead during a trip to Cabo, Mexico with a group of associates. Initially, reports indicated that the 25-year-old woman passed away due to alcohol poisoning. However, further investigation revealed that Robinson suffered several physical injuries that do not align with the initial cause of death. Furthermore, a recently surfaced video showed Robinson in what appeared to be a fight with those she traveled to Cabo with.
“My beautiful sister Shanquella Robinson, recently went on a trip to Cabo, Mexico, with people she believed were her friends,” Robinson’s sister, Quilla Long, wrote on GoFundMe.
“During this trip, she was found dead. Her associates claimed she died of alcohol poisoning, but the death certificate from the Mexican government contradicts this statement as it reveals a broken neck and cracked spine and a time of death which is 15 minutes after she sustained these injuries.”
Recently, news coverage of the incident has been amplified. As a result, the FBI has launched an investigation into the matter. While authorities look into the matter, the family of Shanquella Robinson will lay her to rest.
“We face a tremendous unexpected financial burden and a great deal of pain as we prepare to lay my sister to rest,” Long added.
“Any support you can contribute to our legal fees and other critical expenses is greatly appreciated.”
