Among all the endless drama the Cleveland Cavaliers seem to be currently going through, more and more comes out about the apparently damaged relationship between the team and one-time franchise point guard Kyrie Irving. It was recently revealed that Kyrie Irving reportedly threatened the Cavs with season-ending knee surgery if he wasn’t dealt.
Though it was questionable how much substance Kyrie taking it to that level had, the now Boston Celtics leader clarified it up himself. Irving was recently asked about the report, claiming the whole thing was strictly fabrication and is clearly frustrated with the ongoing headlines regarding himself and his old team. To continuously have to answer questions about a team you are no longer suiting up for must be borderline exasperating for Irving. Though things clearly weren’t always smooth sailing between the Duke product and the Cavs, assuming he took it to the extent of sitting out an entire season is a stretch, to say the least.
Despite the background noise, Irving has handled himself well on and off the court this season. The talented and crafty point guard has his Celtics perched at the top spot in the Eastern Conference, though the Toronto Raptors figure to make things interesting down the stretch, now only 2 games behind.
