The Chicago Bulls screwed up their chance to nearly kill the Cavaliers beast. They were so close to that magical 3-1 lead. But then LeBron and you know the rest.
I said before the series that Chicago will win in 6 strictly because Kevin Love is out and with Smith out for the first two games, Chicago had a really good chance to win it in 5. Then when there was news that Kyrie Irving has been playing with a foot injury (that has now been diagnosed as tendinitis), I threw my hands up going “Oh they have to do it in 5 now!” But no. They blew it on one LeBron clutch finish and will now go back to the Q.
Speaking of Kyrie. He’s been invisible, that foot is killing him and his overall performance. He’s not performing at the level the Cavs need him at but because he’s Kyrie, he’s not going to sit out.
“If the consideration is now, then, I mean, I should have been sitting out maybe about four games ago,” Irving said. “I just … I can’t do it. Mentally, I can’t do it. I can’t look myself in the mirror and sit on the bench or sit in the locker room while I watch my teammates go out there.
“I’d rather give 30 percent, 40 percent, rather than give none at all. I just literally can’t do it. I can’t sit on the bench and be hurt and be OK with that. And still, I still know I can be effective. So whether I got to the free throw line eight times [like he did in Game 3, going 8-for-8], which I’m still happy about … My jumper may not be falling or the legs under me, but I’m just going to continue to just go.“
That’s very commendable Kyrie. But 40% can easily hurt the team and turn into – 40%. In Game 3 and 4 he averaged below 12 PPG. That’s not good. I have complete faith that if Delly and JR share Kyrie’s minutes they can equal his output, because Kyrie looks like Uncle Drew at the start of the video.
