Can we all agree that Kyrie Irving Is injury prone? Because he racks up just as many injuries as Derrick Rose but because it’s DRose and his injuries have kept him out for seasons at a time, we never apply it to Kyrie. Irving is injury prone, simple.
But, according to ESPN.com, Irving is ready to go. Shame that the Cavaliers are still proceeding with extreme caution when it comes to their star point guard.
A source familiar with Kyrie Irving’s rehabilitation told ESPN.com the fifth-year guard is “ready to play” both mentally and physically and has been that way for about the last week. Yet, Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt said after practice Sunday that “we won’t see” Irving on the court Tuesday against the Boston Celtics.
Blatt even went on to say Irving “practiced well” and “he is looking good and he is feeling good.” So, again, what is the holdup?
Basically, it comes down to the Cavs exercising extreme caution when it comes to their three-time All-Star point guard. And it comes down to approaching the season with a championship-or-bust mentality, rendering the urge to play Irving in any December game, no matter the flash the matchup may provide
That’s fair. I mean it’s not like the Cavs are flailing without Irving. They’re still sitting pretty and aren’t showing many signs of free falling. But Kyrie is a persistent piece of work.
Irving has indeed been pestering the coaching staff and front office to allow him to return to the point of being “pissed off,” according to a source.
The article goes on saying that he’s using the frustration as momentum when training. Cliché athlete mentality basically. I believe the Cavs are doing the right thing. They don’t exactly need him at the moment, why put him in?
