Brooklyn Nets Point Guard Kyrie Irving has agreed to pay the tuition of nine students at Lincoln University. Through the KAI Family Foundation, the donation benefited nine seniors who graduated this winter.
“I’m grateful for all you young leaders,” Irving told the students.
“I wouldn’t be sitting in my position and embracing who I am without knowing where I come from and people helping me along the way, so just paying it forward. I’ve committed to my service a long time ago and I’m walking the steps now and I want the same for others.”
Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving paid off the college tuition of nine students from an HBCU (Lincoln University) on Dec. 10 as part of his foundation’s 11 days of giving in December.

Irving is no stranger to philanthropy. Last year, Irving opened a $1.5 million fund to support WNBA players who opted out of playing in the bubble. The New Jersey native also partnered with City Harvest to provide over 250,000 meals across the tri-state area. Adding on, he donated more than $300,000 to Feeding America.
Irving will move from philanthropy to basketball on Friday evening as the Nets take on the Memphis Grizzlies.
