Damn straight he should be!
Alright that was harsh, you’ll know why when you read his quotes. Yesterday the NBA All-Star Game Starters were official. Notable snubs were Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler and Andre Drummond. One that was a snub until the final voting returns was Toronto Raptors’ Kyle Lowry who just pipped Kyrie Irving to that 2nd backcourt spot. Considering Kyrie has only played 15 games this season suggests that he shouldn’t even be in the ballot but. Fan voting.
Anyways Kyrie has talked about missing out and would understand if he didn’t even make it as a reserve.
“He deserves it, man,” Irving said of Lowry. “It was going to be either way — whether I made it or not — it was going to be the same reaction from me. Just, either it would be good to be there in Toronto (or) like I said, he deserves it.”
“Honestly, me as a principled man, seeing it from a broader perspective, I wouldn’t be mad at all,” Irving said when asked if he was resigned to not making it as a backup. “Personally, I don’t feel like I deserve it just from the amount of games that I’ve played and the body of work.”
Now the people that will probably be voted in over him are Boston Celtics’ Isaiah Thomas and Washington Wizards’ John Wall. Kyrie Irving doesn’t have the body of work. He knows that and so should the hundreds of thousands that decided to vote for him. But then again, fan voting.
