Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is unlikely to be ready to start the 2023 NFL season according to Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury. The starting quarterback tore his ACL in December and had surgery to repair the injury this week. Kingsbury said in a press conference that Murray would “probably” not be ready to start in the team’s season opener in 2023. While it is still a long way out from that, this does not sound good for the Cardinals. The team responded to this news by shutting down backup quarterback Colt McCoy for the team’s Week 18 matchup for precautionary reasons. David Blough will start for the team in their final game of the season.
ACL surgery was successful, thank you for all the love and prayers. I appreciate the support and positivity more than I can express, I’ll be back.? pic.twitter.com/1wmj37ZtyK

This season with the Arizona Cardinals, Kyler Murray completed 259 passes for 2,368 yards, 14 touchdowns, and seven interceptions on 390 attempts. He also rushed the ball 67 times for 418 yards and three touchdowns. Overall it was a dissipating season for Murray and the Cardinals with the team needing a reset in the offseason. Arizona has an overall record of 4-12 with their final game against the San Francisco 49ers. The hope is that Murray will not miss much time to start the 2023 regular season, but that all depends on how he recovers. We here at Def Pen Sports wish him the best in that recovery and in his return to the football field.
