Kyle O’Quinn and his girlfriend are being sued for alleged assault, according to the New York Daily News. According to the report, O’Quinn and his girlfriend assaulted a young woman outside of a restaurant in Manhattan.
O’Quinn’s girlfriend was reportedly jealous of O’Quinn looking at and attempting to speak to the young lady. That led to the Knicks’ power forward’s girlfriend to attack the accuser and O’Quinn himself allegedly grabbing her by the neck.
The woman did not immediately recognize O’Quinn but knew he was a Knicks player. After research on the Internet, she eventually called the police to report the incident.
Her attorney had the following to say:
“We find it extremely disturbing that a person with his fame, that young people look up to, would not prevent a fight from happening, but instead would brutally attack, choke and slam her to the ground, not once, but twice.”
The details of this report will obviously be important and one should reserve judgment until they are all readily available. However, the report that has come out certainly does not paint a pretty picture.
O’Quinn signed a four-year deal with the Knicks last summer and had a decent season. But this is certainly not the way to end it.
Kyle O’Quinn has not yet spoken about the incident or the ramifications.
