Lowry wants to be sure he’s ready to come back.
Kyle Lowry has done a remarkable job elevating the Toronto Raptors to a playoff standing this season. They’re slated to finish in the top four of the Eastern Conference. Lowry’s latest back injury has kept him out for six of the Raptors’ last seven games. He’s eager to get back, but he won’t rush it.
From TSN Sports’ Josh Lewenberg:
Lowry: “I’m not gonna rush it. I rushed it the first time and see what happened… So I’mma take my time. I don’t want this to come back”

Lowry made an initial return from the injury, but then re-aggravated it.
Lowry: “It’s feeling better. The back is still very tender and sensitive but the process is definitely getting better”

Lowry: “I haven’t been hurt like this in a while and it sucks to miss games because of injury. I want to play, especially this time of year”

The Raptors have shed some inconsistency this season, but not because of Lowry, who’s averaging 17.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.9 assists in his first All-Star season. At one point Lowry didn’t feel like he was playing too well. He has a load of a responsibility to carry his team offensively and competitively.
It’s obvious how much the Raptors need Lowry back healthy and confident for the postseason. Hopefully for their sake, Lowry’s patience pays off and allows him to be fresh for the playoffs.
