After three games of rest and recuperation, Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is returning to action Friday against the Charlotte Hornets.
“I’m feeling like a million bucks,” said Lowry, grinning from ear to ear.
Lowry comes back to the Raptors at a perfect time for the team. They’re sputtering after the All-Star break going 2-6 in the last 8 games and have struggled to score, only eclipsing the century mark 3 times in those 8 games.
Not long ago, the Raptors along with the Washington Wizards, looked like credible threats to win the Eastern Conference. Both teams defenses didn’t quite get it going yet, but it seemed like only a matter of time until they would find the way to come together and go into the playoffs as formidable opponents to the Atlanta Hawks.
Now a few weeks have passed and the Hawks have proven to be the dominant force in the East, and the Cleveland Cavaliers have found their stride. Cavs have made their way up to fourth in the East, currently tied with the Raptors at the 3 seed and a half game back of the second seeded Chicago Bulls.
Raptors and Wizards play, as of late now have many considering them to be longshots to win the East let alone go to the NBA Finals.
The Raptors have some sort of a shot though, hinged very heavily on the play of Lowry. Their playoff hopes start with him, and they certainly hope his week off to take out the ‘trash’, gets him going in the right way.
