Kyle Lowry has enjoyed an excellent season. He and backcourt mate DeMar DeRozan have pretty much cemented the Toronto Raptors as the second-best team in the Eastern Conference behind the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
While DeRozan has had a huge scoring season and earned the starting nod for the upcoming 2017 NBA All-Star Game, Lowry himself has put up numbers worthy of being in the conversation for the best guard out East.
While Lowry routinely does damage to NBA defenses North of the border now, he is originally from Philadelphia and grew up there, including attending nearby Villanova University. With his roots there, Lowry still has a house in Philly, one that was burglarized recently by a jewelry theft ring. Following from Joe Holden of CBS Philadelphia:
A multi-million dollar jewelry burglary ring is cracked in the Delaware Valley as investigators are trying to recover all the jewels stolen from victims, including an NBA star player.
CBS 3 watched as a team of investigators sorted through hundreds of pieces of jewelry inside V Jewelers in the 700 block of Sansom Street.
The scope of a multi-million dollar burglary ring that police say had its base at a store on Jewelers’ Row, stretched across the Delaware Valley…
The Main Line home of Toronto Raptors’ Kyle Lowry was hit, police sources said.
Responding to an email from CBS3, a spokesman for the Raptors said Lowry, a former Villanova basketball standout, politely declined comment for this story.
According to the report, Lowry wasn’t the only victim to the ring, as there were several other people also targeted. The individuals targeted lost up to millions of dollars worth of jewelry combined. Hopefully, the victims get compensated for their financial losses.
While that situation unfolds, Lowry and his Raptors look to focus on keeping up their solid play in a key upcoming matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies.
