The Toronto Raptors big question of the off season is finally answered with the re-signing of Point Guard Kyle Lowry. Lowry had interest from The Houston Rockets, The Miami Heat, and The Raptors of course. Last season Lowry averaged 17 PPG 7 AST and 4 REB per game and helping Toronto really turn the corner and making the future bright in Tornoto. This is a huge signing for Toronto if Lowry can progress or keep the same numbers next season while the rest of the team around him can grow as well.
Lowry’s 8 year career really didn’t start to blossom until the 2010 season in Houston where he would play for three seasons. He moved around early in his career, but it is good to see him finally land with a team especially a team like Toronto who in years past haven’t made a big signing like this or always spent their money right in the off season. Hopefully this will attract more free agents to Toronto and add to the already exciting nucleus there. Lowry’s deal is for four years and $48 million dollars, and according to Adrian Wojnarowski after the third year Lowry has a early termination option in the contract as well. This is a big blow to The Miami Heat’s off season plans since Lowry was the best Point Guard on the market and it would fill a need for Miami to help add some talent to the roster outside the big three. Overall this is a great signing for Toronto who can hopefully start to develop something special in Toronto.
