Kyle Korver is having an all-star season. It’s still unknown whether or not he’ll complete in the game, but it’s certain that he’ll be part of all-star weekend.
According to the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Korver will be partaking in the 3-point shootout that will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The Hawks sharp shooter in shooting 53.5% from beyond the arc this season, which leads the NBA. The only other time someone has shot better than that was in 2009-2010, when Korver shot 53.8% from three-point range.
If Korver stays healthy, he’s on track to break the record for 3-point percentage, 47.8% by Joe Johnson in 2004-05.
Korver hasn’t competed in a 3-point shootout in 10 years, the last coming in 2005, when he finished second to Quentin Richardson. Korver also finished third in 2004, behind Voshon Lenard (yeah who?) and Peja Stojakovic.
Korver is having a ridiculous season, averaging just over 13 points a game, shooting over 50% from the field and over 90% from the free throw line.
Korver has been a major factor on an improved Atlanta squad, as the Hawks own the best record in the Eastern Conference at 35-8 and are currently on a 14 game winning streak, tied for the longest in team history.
It’s certain that at least one member of the Hawks will be involved in the all-star game, as Mike Budenholzer will be the head coach for the Eastern Conference team.
