The New York Knicks have exhausted their options. They have been very experimental with their lineups. Well as experimental as the beloved Triangle will allow.
Kristaps Porzingis has had his highest of highs, but as the NBA regular season reaches the home stretch, Kristaps is beginning to show fatigue. We forget that he’s never played professional basketball, at this level, for this long. With ailments and just the season grind coming home to roost.
Kurt Rambis, candidate for worst coach EVER, is trying to find positives in this season and is there any bigger positive than knowing that you have Kristaps Porzingis for the long-term. Rambis, if he somehow stays as head coach, might have a look at Kristaps Porzingis at small forward.
Rambis has said that due to Porzingis’s athleticism and versatility, he could “eventually see him at the 3-spot some,” referring to the small-forward position. That was days after Rambis said he wanted Porzingis to sprint down court after opponents’ misses more frequently in hopes of getting more post-up opportunities. Rambis, who has said Porzingis is “going to be phenomenal,” has also been critical of the rookie’s shot selection, saying “there are shots out there that he takes that I flat-out don’t like.” Porzingis’s 3-point attempts are down since Rambis’s comment.
Well what do you expect? He’s still a Rookie after all. You must’ve expected him to have a cold streak? Or is Kristaps Porzingis just that unique, he’s that much of a unicorn.
I don’t see why Kristaps couldn’t do the 3. Carmelo likes playing power forward and Robin Lopez can slot into the center. I’m surprised the Knicks haven’t tried this before. Who are we kidding here, I’m not surprised.
