The New York Knicks have had a depressing season. Yesterday I saw a Vine of Carmelo Anthony having a strained look on his face, it was basically the Knicks season in 6 seconds.
But when we talk about how depressing the Knicks are, we have to look at the silver lining, Kristaps Porzingis. He has had a great Rookie season but as the season draws to a close he’s kind of limping to the finish line. He’s currently injured with a strained right shoulder. The Knicks have been focusing on the young players but they don’t want to jeopardise their silver lining by playing him. But even with the season pretty much over, Porzingis still wants to ball.
“I’m young, and I always want to be on the floor,’’ Porzingis said. “At the same time, I want to be smart about this. Nothing really to gain the last few games but I think I’ll be back for the last two, three games hopefully. But it’s not my decision at the end of the day.’’
“I really want to come back and play the last few games. It’s nothing we need to rush. I’ll make sure I’m 100 percent, then I’ll be back.’’
For a young buck that wants to play, he’s pretty smart. He knows he’s injured, he knows he’s the future. There’s no point going out there hobbled, risking further injury. So hopefully he can finish up the season on-court instead of on the bench wearing a suit.
