To say that it’s rough out here would be an understatement. Yesterday, John Hopkins University reported that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases had surpassed 5 million globally. Adding on to that, businesses are struggling to survive and people are struggling to get by on unemployment payouts. In times like this, many of us look to arts, entertainment and hobbies to get by. One artist that is offering a bit of light and encouragement during these troubling times is Kota The Friend.
“One thing I wanted to focus on with this one is, I wanted to make it just a really feel-good album. I didn’t want one song to be a downer. I wanted every song be uplifting and just really get people hyped and get people in a good mood or feel a really good version of nostalgia. So, I think this one is definitely more positive then Foto and less heavy but still meaningful and it still represents who I am,” Kota The Friend told Uproxx.
The new project from the Brooklyn based artist comes with a dozen new songs. Along the way, he links up with Kaiit, Tobi Lou, Braxton Cook, Joey Bada$$, Bas and many others. Not to mention, he’s got a interlude featuring the incredible Lupita Nyong’o. Check out the full project above and let us know what you think.
