Kodak Black receives a 12-month sentence after pleading guilty to gun charges.
The weapons charge stem from an arrest at the United States-Canadian border in April 2019. Kodak plead guilty to the charges in Mid-March 2020 in New York. He initially faced two to seven years behind bars for the infraction. His lawyer Bradford Cohen has released a statement via social media updating fans of the ZEZE rapper on his legal situation.
Uploading artwork depicting Kodak Black marked by the statement “Free Kodak”, Cohen informs the public that his client had some good news and some frustration regarding the case in New York.
“I was not his attorney on that case. Although it should have been completely dismissed, as it was for the other 2 individuals in the same car, who testified that @kodakblack knew nothing about the firearm in the vehicle, and it was registered and legal to one of the other individuals he was with, they agreed to 12 month to run concurrent with his current sentence. Even the Judge asked the prosecutor why are they not dismissing. @kodakblack just wanted to resolve it so he doesn’t lose anytime in federal. You see when you are out of federal custody you lose that time on your federal case”
He continues to detail how the current coronavirus pandemic may affect Kodak’s time, and his quest to assist the rapper with these charges. Kodak Black is currently serving a 46-month federal sentence in Florida.
