Kobe Bryant was ecastatic at Dwight Howard’s arrival in Los Angeles, and praised the center as being able to carry the franchise into the future once Bryant retires. The Lakers guard has been hinting atretirment- and a possible European sojourn – for some months now, he told media in London that Howard will have the franchise to himself in the next two-to-three years. In the meantime he’s looking forward to competig for championships once again.
“I’ll probably play two, three more years. Then the team is his,” Bryant said after the U.S. beat Argentina, 109-83, in an Olympic men’s basketball semifinal Friday. “I’m excited for the Laker franchise because they have a player that can carry the franchise well after I’m gone.
“I told him Los Angeles is the perfect place for him because if you look at history and all the great centers that have come to L.A., now he’s the next in line,” Bryant added. “He’ll get more touches here than he did in Orlando, which sounds weird to say, but it’s true,” Bryant said. “We do a great job playing through the post and playing through him and playing through Pau [Gasol]. It’s going to be sensational.”
