Kobe Bryant had as perfect of a sendoff game as could be expected. In front of a sold-out crowd including some of his prominent former teammates, the 37-year-old put up 60 points and a cool “Mamba Out” before riding off into the sunset.
The story couldn’t get much better than that, right? Wrong.
Apparently, Bryant was trying to help out another former teammate on that last night. In fact, he predicted his hot shooting the day before:
Ariza told us on @SiriusXMNBA that Kobe told him prior to last game of yr to not worry about Rox getting into playoffs bc he'd take of Jazz.

Yeah, that’s right, Kobe gave Trevor Ariza a promise and delivered.
Obviously, the promise didn’t actually matter as the Rockets won their final game of the season and were guaranteed the eighth seed before Lakers-Jazz even tipped off.
But it’s still a perfect Kobe legend for the former superstar to predict himself going off. That’s not to mention that this superstar was 37 years old and had played the worst basketball of his career, by far, the entire year.
This is just another story to add to the legendary Kobe Bryant archives. Mamba out.
