Kobe Bryant wants you to know the Lakers are still his team, despite the talent assembled by the franchise over the summer. The 34-year old Bryant told reporters at media day that he will pass the torch to Dwight Howard at the right time (when Kobe hangs up his boots), but in the meantime the Lakers are his and he will teach the All-Star center everything he can to prepare him for the day when Kobe’s gone.
“I got a question earlier about whose team this is,” Bryant told reporters at the Lakers media day Monday. “I don’t want to get into the, ‘Well, we share …’ No, it’s my team. But I want to make sure that Dwight, when I retire, this is going to be his. I want to teach him everything I possibly know so that when I step away this organization can ride on as if I never left.”
