DON’T PANIC, but Lakers star Kobe Bryant may miss the rest of the preseason thanks to the leg contusion he suffered in last Tuesday’s game vs the Sacremento Kings.
Scott downplayed the injury last week and continued to insist that it’s nothing huge, so don’t worry. It’s better that Kobe Bryant rests now instead of exert himself in preseason basketball.
“There’s a chance, but I’m not going to put a percentage on it,” Scott said after practice on Sunday at the Lakers’ practice facility in El Segundo.
“I’d rather get him to 100 percent as close as possible, these games don’t mean anything right now.”
This is definitely the best move for Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. Preseason games hold no weight in the grand scheme of things and letting Bryant play through another injury will only prove to be more detriment than a positive at this stage in his career.
Scott and Bryant already have a pretty good idea on what role Kobe is going to play with his new teammates (looked pretty efficient at it too) , so why not just let the legend rest?
The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Portland Trail Blazers tonight. You can catch the game on NBA TV at 10:30 pm ET.
