A little over a year ago, before retiring was a guarantee for Kobe Bryant, it was suggested that Turner Sports should consider Kobe as a potential replacement for Charles Barkley on TNT’s Inside The NBA. Barkley’s contract with Turner Sports expires this year, Kobe was a premature idea to fill his seat and join the award-winning panel.
Now that Kobe is officially retired, we’re soon to find out what his next venture will be.
TMZ Sports has reported that Turner Sports is starting the courting process and have offered Kobe a job, no doubt as an analyst alongside the likes of Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal. This is a no-brainer for Turner in terms of pursuing Bryant. The worst he can say is no. It’s unclear if they would want to add Kobe to the panel for the playoffs or next season, and as of right now, there’s no indication that Kobe is interested in the gig.
Kobe will always stay connected to the game. Becoming an analyst would bring him super close. No matter the likelihood of this happening, the thought of that panel with Kobe would be historic.
