As the free agency mill continues to church, we are learning more about which players are high on team’s radars. Rajon Rondo is one of the available free agents who presents a significant risk. Rondo’s stint with the Dallas Mavericks in the second half of the season has significantly weighed down his stock.
Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports has reported that not even the New York Knicks will be taking a shot at signing Rondo:
With size the free agent focus, the Knicks are not expected to show interest in free agent point guard Rajon Rondo, a source said.

From ESPN’s Marc Stein on Rondo:
And word is Rondo, wherever he goes next, could well go the one-year-contract route as he looks to rebound from bumpy season with Celts/Mavs

The Sacramento Kings seem to be the only team showing legitimate interest in Rondo. Next season will have to be another proving point for Rondo after a nightmare in Dallas, and at this point he has to settle for whoever still wants him. Assuming he’s ready to have that chip on his shoulder, whoever does sign Rondo will have a trusted competitor and a champion on their side, but it won’t be the New York Knicks taking that gamble.
