Jeff Hornacek was fired by the Phoenix Suns earlier this season, which didn’t come as a surprise, but was definitely unwarranted. Hornacek in his 3 seasons with the Suns, led them surprisingly to the 9th spot two years in a row (missing out on the Playoffs by one game), but in this season, things derailed in Phoenix quickly.
Phoenix finished the season 23-59, good for 2nd last in the West, just winning 12 games after Hornacek departure in February. The former Suns player and Suns Coach is now being looked at by other teams to help with their coaching situation. We’ve already heard rumors that the Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies were looking at him and now the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors join that group. According to Marc Stein of ESPN:
The Knicks, league sources say, have interviewed Jeff Hornacek for their coaching job along with Kurt Rambis, David Blatt and Frank Vogel.

Sources say Golden State also has strong interest in Hornacek to join the Warriors’ bench next season if he’s still on the market by then.

Hornacek has been in the mix for nearly every head coach job this offseason. New York, Houston, Memphis and Orlando all still have vacancies

For the Golden State Warriors, adding Hornacek to their already great coaching staff would just help bolster their offensive knowledge. After Luke Walton was hired by the Lakers, the position for assistant coach is empty for the Warriors and Hornacek may possibly be the guy for that job, but that’s only if he’s available when hiring time comes around for the Warriors.
Which makes it more likely for him to move onto another team that is interested in hiring him right now, like the Magic, Grizzlies, Rockets or the New York Knicks. The Knicks are doing their due diligence after Carmelo Anthony insisted that they keep looking for coaches, and now Hornacek is someone in the conversation.
