What’s worse for Bulls fans right now? The fact that their team looks like they plan on tanking the entire 2012-13 season, or that their once-valued bench players are all being snapped up by Conference rivals? The Knicks have swooped in and signed Ronnie Brewer on a one-year deal – at the veterans minimum of $1.4 million – to add the defensive minded Brewer to their squad for next season.
Brewer was an unrestricted free agent after the Bulls declined to pick up the option on his deal. He averaged 7 points, 3.5 boards and 1 steal per game for Chicago last season coming off the bench but could slide into a starting role with New York to allow J.R. Smith to continue coming off the bench.
