Mike Woodson has had the interim title removed from his position and will now be the Knicks head coach for the next few years. New York inked Woodson to a multi-year deal, although terms of the new deal were not released. The assistant to Mike D’Antoni took over when the former coach resigned in mid-March. The struggling Knicks turned their season around under Woodson, finishing with an 18-6 run to end the regular season.
The head coach said he was focused on helping bring a Championship to the city of New York.
“I’m very humbled and honored to continue coaching the franchise where I started my NBA career,” Woodson, who was drafted by the Knicks in 1980, said in a statement. “Our goal is to build off the success we had at the end of last season and to continue our quest of bringing an NBA championship to Madison Square Garden.”
