The New York Knicks seem to have engaged in trade talks for point guard Derrick Rose. The former Chicago Bulls star was traded to New York in the offseason but he seems to have overstayed his welcome with the Knicks already.
In fact, it appears as though the Knicks are willing to trade the former MVP regardless of the return, according to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski:
“New York has been pretty aggressive trying to trade Derrick Rose. My sense is, talking to other teams, the Knicks are not as worried about the return they get for him. They want to move him out.”
This makes sense. Rose is set to become a free agent this summer and the sense is that he will be demanding more money that most teams will see worth spending. The Knicks should attempt to get any sort of asset in return for his few more weeks under contract.
The most substantial rumor around Rose has involved the Minnesota Timberwolves who are being led by his former coach Tom Thibodeau. It’s unclear if those rumors are merely leaks to up his trade value, but that seems like the only market for Rose so far.
The Knicks seem hellbent on trading Derrick Rose, so this is a situation to monitor closely until Thursday’s trade deadline.
