The Draft is beginning to take shape. Teams are starting to plan out their picks. Will they trade up or down. If this player is gone, who’s next in line. Variables must be accounted for when it comes to the NBA Draft. And no team has more pressure than the New York Knicks. I mean when you’re in New York. One of the most famous cities in the world. With a storied basketball franchise. With Phil Jackson as your GM. Results are expected. And this Draft is where it all begins for NY.
If the Knicks win the lottery. It’s safe to say that Kentucky’s Karl Anthony-Towns will be the one rocking the Knicks hat for the night. That’s according to Ian Begley of ESPN NY.
New York ranks Towns at No. 1 on its draft board, followed by Okafor, Mudiay, Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell and Duke’s Justise Winslow, sources inside the organization told Ford.
The Knicks will find out exactly where they pick on May 19 when the NBA holds its draft lottery. New York has a 19.9 percent chance of landing the top pick, a 38.7 percent chance of landing a top-two pick and an 87.7 percent chance of landing a top-four pick.
The Knicks, who finished with the second-worst record in the NBA, are guaranteed to pick no lower than fifth in the draft.
Now no lower than fifth is decent. But it’s all about the first pick. Remember. Pressure. They have an abundance of it. Better get it right Mr Jackson.
