Sasha Vujacic is returning to the New York Knicks. Time for fans to rejoice.
Seriously, it might not be the flashiest move the Knicks made this summer but it is a good move to fill out the roster. With the potential injury issues surrounding Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings, getting Vujacic for insurance is a solid move.
He knows Phil Jackson, Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis so keeping a veteran on the roster at a cheap price isn’t a bad move.
Following from the New York Daily News.
The veteran guard agreed to a 1-year deal for the veteran’s minimum, the Daily News confirmed.
If all goes according to the Knicks plans, Sasha will be the third string guard for the Knicks, doing backup duty for guys like Justin Holiday and Brandon Jennings. It’s a good end of the bench signing and for such a cheap number, you can’t hate on the Knicks keeping one of their own guys. After a summer of so many moves, keeping some sort of continuity can’t be a bad thing.
Vujacic played for Knicks president Phil Jackson for six seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, playing on two championship teams in 2009 and 2010. Last season, Vujacic averaged 4.9 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 36.4 percent on three-pointers in 61 games last season.
