The Knicks’ current guard rotation primarily consists of Derrick Rose, Courtney Lee, Ron Baker, Justin Holiday and Chasson Randle. That is not ideal, especially given that Rose is unlikely to be in New York for much longer. New York, currently projected to have the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, has its eye on a couple of guards, reports Ian Begley of ESPN:
The Knicks should have a top-10 pick in June’s draft. Some players on the Knicks’ radar at the moment include French guard Frank Ntilikina and Kentucky’s Malik Monk, per sources.
In Def Pen’s most recent mock draft, Ntilikina was projected to go ninth, with Monk going immediately after him at 10th.
Monk, a freshman, averaged 20 points per game at Kentucky this season while shooting 45 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Ntilikina is just 18 years old and has a very bright future ahead of him. He’s got good size and has a nice shooting stroke. You can read more about Ntilikina here; our very own Orazio Cauchi broke down the prospect’s strengths and weaknesses in January.
