If New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday sticks around in the Big Easy past this season he will have the pleasure of playing with perhaps the two best big men in basketball, DeMarcus Cousins in Anthony Davis. However, Holiday is a superb player and will have other suitors in free agency. One such suitor could be the New York Knicks, reports ESPN’s Ian Begley:
One player to keep an eye on? New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday. League sources familiar with the matter say that some in the Knicks organization view Holiday as a target in free agency this summer. Team president Phil Jackson expressed interest in trading for Holiday earlier in his tenure, so the Knicks’ current interest in him makes sense. Holiday will likely have plenty of suitors, though.
Convincing Holiday to abandon a team with two top-10 players in favor of the perpetually chaotic mess that is the New York Knicks will be no easy task. In all likelihood, the only hope that Phil Jackson & co. have is that Holiday wants to live in NYC. There are no hometown ties there; Holiday is from Los Angeles. Holiday is good – certainly better than Derrick Rose – but the Knicks’ interest in the 26-year-old is probably one-sided.
