The New York Knicks are eyeing a pair of veteran two-way players in free agency, per ESPN’s Ian Begley. The first is 31-year-old point guard George Hill:
Some members of the organization also see point guard George Hill as a potential free-agent target.
In 49 games for the Utah Jazz last season, Hill averaged 16.9 points and 4.2 assists while shooting over 40 percent from deep.
The Knicks are also interested in swingman P.J. Tucker:
Point guard aside, the Knicks are interested in tough-minded veterans such as P.J. Tucker, according to sources, and are looking, in particular, for players who can compete on both ends of the floor.
Tucker, 32, was traded to the Suns from the Raptors in the latter half of last season. In his 24 regular-season games in Toronto, Tucker averaged 5.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.6 percent from the floor and 40 percent from the arc. Tucker is a tough defender, but his three-point shooting ability isn’t as elite as that number would suggest; he shoots 35.1 percent for his career and was shooting just 33.8 percent last seaosn in Phoenix.
The Knicks are also reportedly interested in point guard Jeff Teague. The fact that New York is exploring veteran point guard options and just drafted point guard Frank Ntilikina eighth overall suggests that the team is ready to move on from Derrick Rose.
