The New York Knicks are close to removing the ‘interim’ tag from Mike Woodson’s coaching position and are poised to give him a contract extension for next season – and possibly beyond. The extension would end speculation that New York owner James Dolan had been contemplating launching a multi-million dollar bid for former Lakers coach, Phil Jackson.
They now feel that Woodson, who led the Knicks to an 18-6 record during the regular season after taking over from Mike D’Antoni, is the right man to lead the team into the future.
Talks are still in the preliminary stages and neither side has confirmed anything yet.
