The summer of 2016 is where we will experience the end of an era. Well I’ll experience it, some of you don’t care about your country in international basketball which I find a little sad.
If you’re actually interested in how your US of A in the Summer Olympics in Rio Di Janiero this year, you know that that this’ll be Mike Krzyzewski’s last ride as head coach of Team USA. But some recent news has jeopardised that possibility as Krzyzewski is having knee replacement surgery. But never fear, that won’t keep him out from doing his duty.
In a statement, Colangelo said: “I’d like to clarify comments I made last weekend in Toronto. I fully expect Coach K to lead the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team in Rio. I was aware that [Krzyzewski] planned to have knee replacement surgery immediately after Duke’s season was completed, but at no time have Coach and I ever discussed him not coaching the USA national team this summer.
“I remain 100 percent convinced that there is no better coach to lead the U.S. as it looks to successfully defend its Olympic gold medal in Rio and represent the United States in a manner all Americans will be proud of.”
Said Krzyzewski: “Immediately after the Duke basketball season is completed, I will undergo replacement surgery on my left knee. Our medical team here at Duke and I expect a full recovery following the rehabilitation process and I have every intention of coaching the United States national team in Rio at the 2016 Olympics.”
Well there you have it. There were questions of Mike Krzyzewski missing out and he, along with Colangelo, made it clear that he will be there in Rio to get the gold once again.
See why can’t people in the NBA be this clear cut? Why can’t they just be straight up instead of plugging trash with half truths?
