The Warriors destroyed the Wizards last night 107-76. Steph Curry lead the Warriors with a game high 24 points, and he also held John Wall to 11 points on 4-16 shooting. The Warriors big win was not the only good takeaway from this game, as all star guard Klay Thompson returned from a sprained ankle that he suffered last Tuesday in the third quarter of a win against the Lakers.
Thompson has not played in three games due to his sprained ankle. Thompson, averaging a career-high 21.9 PPG on the season coming into the game and shooting 43.5% from three, which was 4th in the league, played 18 minutes scoring 8 points. Thompson did not shoot well tonight, as he shot 0-5 from three and 3-9 from the field. The poor shooting dropped him to 43.1% and down to 5th in the league in 3 point percentage. When asked about his ankle though, Thompson said the following to ESPN,
“It felt good,” Thompson said of the ankle. “I’m excited to be back, and just it’s good to feel no pain and just be healthy.”
Thompson started the game; as the Western Conference leading Warriors won their 12th consecutive game. Thompson admitted to reporters after the game that he felt tired on the court tonight, saying,
“I got gassed,” he said. “I got tired after a couple minutes, but that’s natural.”
ESPN reported Steve Kerr on Klay Thompson’s return saying,
“He’s going to take a couple games to find his rhythm, kind of get the cobwebs off. It was a good minute total for him,” Kerr said.
Klay Thompson’s return to the Warriors lineup will help them to keep the flow that they have had going all season, and it will help them to make a strong playoff push. Thompson’s return is going to help the Warriors to continue to win games as they look to bring the momentum they have had all season into the playoffs.
