Tonight, the Golden State Warriors will be attempting to chase history when they take the court at home against the Los Angeles Lakers. The lowly Lakers will be attempting to be the team to end the Warriors white-hot start to the 2015-16 regular season.
The Warriors started the season 15-0 and they are looking to be the first team to start the regular season 16-0. They’ve already set a record for the best start to a regular season after winning an NBA championship.
Lakers have started the season 2-11 and have been anything from a feel good story this season. They have an aging superstar at the end of his career just chucking up any kinds of shots he wants because he can and a rookie guard who can’t sniff fourth quarter minutes.
Yet, for some reason, possibly due to the fact he’s part of the Lakers radio broadcast team, former Lakers great and father of Warriors guard Mychal Thompson believes the streak ends tonight. As Kobe Bryant said, stranger things have happened.
Mychal Thompson said the following on his ESPN radio show, Thompson and Trudell.
“They’re going to take the Lakers lightly. They’ll look at the Lakers record and go ‘Oh, they’re a lottery team. We’re not going to take them that seriously.’ I think the Lakers will go out there with a sneak attack and surprise and shock the world. And like you said, I’m predicting the Laker victory in Golden State to stop their 15-game winning streak and prevent them from breaking the record.”
But Klay isn’t fully convinced that his father truly believes that the Warriors will lose. Klay said the following on KNBR’s Fitz and Brooks show.
“Yeah, I saw that. But I know he really doesn’t believe it deep down. I think he’s just doing it for entertainment value,” said the 25-year-old shooting guard who sports a 21.4 points per game average against the Lakers in his career.
“Can’t blame him. It’s his job. He’s got to stick with the team that pays the bills. But deep down he knows that it’s going to be a very, very tall task for the Lakers tomorrow.”
The Golden State Warriors game against the Los Angeles Lakers starts tonight at 10:30
