You are onto something if you think Klay Thompson took a minor step back in his own team. Last year it was all about the ‘Splash Brothers’, comparing Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to the greatest tandems in NBA History.
This year, it’s been about the streak, Curry and Draymond Green. Meanwhile, Klay has been dealing with injuries, forcing him to take a back seat in the roaring Golden State train. But that won’t stop Thompson from saying he’s the best shooting guard in the game.
“I’m going to go with myself,” Thompson said of his pick for the top shooting guard, throwing up his hands. “We’re 26-1.”
He noted that the Chicago Bulls’ Jimmy Butler and Houston Rockets’ James Harden were among the candidates in his mind before reiterating his choice.
“I have confidence in myself,” Thompson said Saturday.
Well he definitely mentioned the best shooting guard. Unfortunately it’s not him. It’s Jimmy Butler all day. He’s the leader of his team, he’s one of the best two-way players in the game. I personally think it’s Butler and to me, it’s not even close.
Don’t get me wrong, all three are in the conversation. But in terms of right now, it’s Butler, but we can’t count out Klay, he gets buckets, he can defend. A case can be made.
