While one player remains where he’s been projected to go in the 2015 NBA Draft, another player rises up the draft boards at a fever pitch. Willie Cauley-Stein is a player that may not leave the top 10 selections in the draft but Cameron Payne, a relative unknown coming into the draft, is climbing up the draft boards and fast. He started as a player hanging around the middle of the pack at around 14 to the Oklahoma City Thunder but now he’s rumored to be in consideration with teams in the top 10.
The New York Knicks, with the fourth pick, and Los Angeles Lakers, with the second pick, had Payne in for workouts and now the Murray State point guard is joining Kentucky big man Willie Cauley-Stein in Sacramento for some pre-draft workouts. The Kings, who hold the sixth pick in the draft, made an official announcement that both players will be coming to the Kings practice facility on Thursday to workout for the team.
The Knicks seem to be serious about Payne and have even been rumored to trade down in order to get him. Meanwhile, Cauley-Stein has been rumored to be joining the Celtics more than any other team.
While we all know what Cauley-Stein can bring to the floor, Payne continues to be a player that has become the darling of the NBA Draft as a guy who is a mystery and could be one of those players that could surprise a lot of people in the NBA.
