Have you ever seen a bad movie but had some optimism during the movie that the movie could get better towards the end but then that movie didn’t get better. It actually got worse. Way worse. So bad to the point that there is no coming back from their issues and the only way to make the movie better before it ends?
That’s essentially how the Sacramento Kings have gone since their bad season ended. It was from bad to worse to literally so horrible that there is no way they can keep both DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl with the team.
Cousins name was ran through the rumor mill for trades as soon as their season ended but there wasn’t much to think of it. It was just rumors. Kings owner Vivek Ranadive denied those rumors and those thoughts were reciprocated by their president of basketball operations, Vlade Divac.
After the team representatives shot down the deals, Karl, the head coach of the team, reportedly said he wanted DeMarcus cousins traded. The firestorm ensued after Karl’s reported remarks and now it’s gotten to the point of Goerge’s job possibly being on the line, only 4 months after getting a job with the team.
Following from Chris Broussard of ESPN.com.
Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive has considered firing George Karl, who was hired as coach four months ago to help turn around the struggling franchise.
Ranadive’s displeasure with Karl stems from the coach’s desire to trade All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
No potential replacement for Karl has been mentioned or considered, and while removing Karl would appease Cousins, it would not necessarily end the dysfunction that is crippling the franchise, the source said.
“If you fire Karl, now you can’t control Cousins because he’ll know he’s running the place,” the source said. “Now he’ll feel like he’s telling you what to do.”
Since the report has been released, Vivek has shot down any rumored firings.
Credible sources within Kings organization absolutely deny George Karl job status ever discussed. Hmm. Who gains by such talk? Connect dots.
