The Sacramento Kings have not gotten the type of production they’ve wanted from Power Forward Carl Landry over the years they have spent trying to training him into being an important part of the Kings ‘success’. But in Sacramento, things have not gone to plan, both with the teams direction and Landry’s success. He has had an array of injuries that have led to him falling out of the rotation for the Kings and the way it’s become, it doesn’t look like he’ll ever be able to properly contribute to the team.
Landry suffered a wrist injury that had him sidelined for 5 games in January, and now Landry will be having surgery due to the wrist. The Kings released:
Sacramento Kings forward Carl Landry underwent successful surgery this morning to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, the team announced today. The procedure was performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
Landry experienced wrist soreness during the 2014-15 season, missing five games as a result (Jan. 16 – Jan. 23). An initial evaluation at that time by Dr. Carlson indicated surgery was not necessary. When pain in the wrist persisted during the offseason, Landry underwent an MRI early this week which revealed that a procedure was required to repair the injury.
Landry will begin rehabilitation immediately and is expected to be out approximately four to five months.
So now we are un-sure that Landry will return ready for training camp for the Kings but this was not a smart move on both sides. Players like to play, and Landry seeing that he needs to play for his team, tried to play through the pain, which is resulting in surgery now. He probably won’t be much help to the Kings who desperately need a revival, and they owe him about $6 million each of the next 2 years. The Kings are in a bad situation again.
