On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the United States called Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi to the witness stand in the ongoing trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The Ohio native told Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson that he dated Cassie Ventura, Combs’s former significant other and recording artist, in 2011. According to Mescudi, he was under the impression that “she and Sean Combs had some problems and they weren’t dating anymore.” However, the nature of their relationship seemingly turned sour in December of 2011 when his home was broken into. As he explained to Johnson later on, Sean Combs and an affiliate allegedly forced Cassie Ventura into a car to and went to Mescudi’s house
“I had a break-in. Cassie called me at 5:30 or 6 am. She said Sean Combs had found out about us. She asked me to pick her up. So I did. Yeah,” Mescudi told the court.
After speaking to Ventura and going to the Sunset Marquis where he felt safe, Mescudi says he also spoke to Capricorn Clark, Combs’s former personal assistant. During their conversation, Mescudi says Clark told him Combs was in a car near his house. From there, Mescudi told the court that he spoke to Combs and returned to his home to assess any potential damage.
“Gifts were open, some stuff I got from Chanel. And my dog was locked up in the bathroom,” Mescudi said when asked what he saw when he returned home. He later added that his dog was “jittery [and] on edge all the time” after the break-in.
In addition to break-in, he told the court that his dog’s babysitter called him and said his car was on fire. Mescudi claims someone intentionally cut a roof in the hole of his car and threw a Molotov cocktail inside of it. The chart-topping star presented photos of the Porsche after the fire, taken by his friend and longtime collaborator, Chip.
Afterward, Mescudi told the court he met with Combs at the SoHo House to discuss what had happened.
“He said, ‘We were homies, you know that is my girl,'” he told the court. “[I said], ‘I thought you had broken up. Then Sean Combs offered me water, twice.'”
“It was weird, Sean Combs being so calm,” he added.
However, when the conversation turned toward his damaged Porsche, Mescudi claims Combs said, “I don’t know what you are talking about,” and walked away.
A few years after their initial conversation, Mescudi says he saw Combs again at the SoHo House.
“A few years later, also at Soho House, he said, I’m just sorry for all that bulls—t. I was surprised, so I found peace with it,” he told Johnson.
Ultimately, Ventura and Mescudi stopped dating after the incident.
“The drama, it was getting out of hand. I wanted to give space,” he told Johnson. “The break in. For my safety, her safety.”
