There are few time slots more coveted in the world of boxing than the post-Heisman Trophy presentation fight card in Madison Square Garden. In years past, contenders like Teofimo Lopez and Edgar Berlanga have fought during the coveted time slot. This year, an Olympian by the name of Keyshawn Davis is looking to shine as the world watches.
Davis is one of the most promising fighters to emerge out of the American amateur ranks in recent memory. Just a few months ago, Davis won a silver medal at the 2021 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. Not long thereafter, he signed a promotional deal with Top Rank. Now, he’s looking to continue his pro career.
With the support of world champions Terence Crawford and Shakur Stevenson, Davis entered the ring on Saturday night to fight Jose Zaragoza. From the opening bell, the Virginia native dominated the fight. Landing thudding uppercuts and power shots to the liver, the Olympic silver medalist punished his opponent en route to a second round stoppage.
