After Monday’s workout with the Washington Wizards, Kevon Looney made some comments about how well he would be able to fit into Washington’s system. With his shooting ability, he is definitely able to play small forward, and can even stretch out the floor when playing power forward.
Following From Washington Post.
“I think I can play both. I don’t like to limit myself because when I watch the games a lot of guys are interchangeable,” Looney said. “Otto Porter played a lot of three and the four. Paul Pierce even played four this year. You watch a team like Golden State, where their guys are playing everywhere, so I don’t want to limit myself. I think I can play both. If my coach needs me to play the four, I will play it. If they need me to play the three I will play it.”
At 6-foot-9, Looney has a decent build for either forward spot. With a potential departure of Paul Pierce when free agency hits, another forward spot could be open, and Looney could be the guy to fill that hole.
Not defining a single position he can play is a huge plus for teams looking to draft Looney, and his versatility could make him a top prospect. As the Wizards continue to search for the perfect offensive system, being able to play multiple positions is necessary for any player looking to be in DC.
