The Timberwolves have recently bought out veteran point guard Andre Miller’s contract, and they have said that Kevin Martin’s contract will be bought out if he wants it to be. Martin now looks like he wants it to be, and according to ESPN’s Mark Stein, him and the team are in advanced negotiations to buy his contract out. He will become a free agent by the playoff-eligibility deadline.
Kevin Martin and the Timberwolves in advanced buyout negotiations to make him free agent by playoff-eligibility deadline, league sources say

Buying out Andre Miller is not a big deal for the Wolves, as he has only played 10 MPG this season, and he was more of a veteran presence for the young stars. Kevin Martin is a bit more of a loss though, as he played 21 MPG, and is averaging 10 PPG off of the bench. Clearing him will make more minutes for the Wolves to play young guards such as Zach LaVine, Ricky Rubio, Andrew Wiggins, and Shabazz Muhammad though.
The Wolves need to develop their young guys, and keeping Martin wasn’t helping with that. Kevin Martin has never won a championship, so he will likely sign with a talented team to try and help them on their run for a championship here at the end of the season. He will be a solid addition to whoever signs him, and his three-point shooting ability will help him a lot. The Mavericks are a team that will likely be interested in him, as they said that they would be earlier this season.
UPDATE:
The Wolves and Kevin Martin have agreed to a buyout, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com.
