Kevin Love returns to the Target Center tonight for the first time in a Cleveland Cavalier jersey. Love was traded this past summer to Cleveland in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennet, and Thad Young.
The anxious return to Minnesota for Love has been building the last few days. The Timberwolves PR department released a video this week called #TheReturn, featuring the return of former Wolves and current Cavs player……..Mike Miller.
Clearly the Wolves are trolling their former big man in Love, but luckily the six-year pro out of UCLA has a good sense of humor.
“That’s hilarious,” Love said. “I thought it was really funny. For them to do that, it was pretty good. The T-Wolves P.R. has always been very funny unlike ours here now. I thought they did a very good job.”
Love continued to say: “I was waiting for it, waiting for it and it turned to Mike Miller,” he said followed with a laugh. “That was pretty good.”
The video showed LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, J.R. Smith, Shawn Marion, Timofey Mozgov, Matthew Dellavedova and then it transitioned to “And the return of Mike Miller.”
Miller played one season for the Wolves in 2008-2009.
Love said as for the game, he doesn’t expect a warm welcome from the fans
“Truthfully? Boo,” he said. “It’s probably more of that than a mix of cheers. I’m sure once I get there it will be a little different feeling for me. Obviously playing on the visitor’s side, going in the visitor’s locker room. Going to the different bench, but I haven’t really given it too much thought.”
Love made fans mad in Minnesota this summer when he took a tour of Boston, and eventually forced his way out, demanding a trade which sent him to Cleveland.
It will be interesting to see how the Minnesota fans react to Love, as he was really the only player who gave the team any notoriety for the past six seasons.
