Kevin Love has probably been crossed over more times than he’s crossed over other people, but that at least gives him enough merit to voice his opinion on who has the best crossover in the NBA.
Part of this American Express Home Court Advantage video was having Love do exactly that, and his answer went like so:
“Kyrie (Irving) is right there. So shifty and can do so many things with the ball. Derrick Rose, his change of speed and change of direction is unlike any other. Russell Westbrook is right up there because he’s so powerful. You know, those guys are amongst the elite when it comes to handling the ball.”
Irving, Rose, and Westbrook. This is truly one of those subjective topics, especially since there are so many dynamic ball handlers in the NBA today to choose from, but Love is certainly right about those three being elites. There might be some underlying bias for his current teammate Kyrie Irving and former teammate Russell Westbrook. Irving is more elusive and crafty with his handle/crossover while Westbrook’s, much like Rose, is more about the explosiveness.
Others that Love might have considered? Stephen Curry, Jamal Crawford, Chris Paul? Again, it’s not necessarily definitive. There are too many legit and lethal choices.
