After the Atlanta Hawks’ streak gets snapped by Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans. The longest streak still going belongs to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Thanks to LeBron being LeBron and Kyrie Irving getting hot. The Cavs are dominating like they should’ve been. But there’s still one glaring issue. Kevin Love.
He’s still playing average. Extremely average. He’s doing well on the rebounding front. But offensively he is lost. And according to ESPN.com, LeBron James knows it.
“I think Kev had some shots that he passed up on,” James said. “Maybe he felt that he just wasn’t in a good rhythm, but I know I hit him with a few [potential] shots after the first quarter where he had some good looks when he decided to swing-swing [with a pass], which is OK, it kept the ball moving. So, I think for Kev, I think his confidence maybe shooting the ball is a little down, but for me as a player, I get him good looks. I want him to shoot the ball and he needs to shoot it with confidence.“
Now Kevin Love knows he’s not all that when it comes to shooting at the moment. But I don’t think he’s worried about it. He’s spoke on his recent play. Saying that he’s just getting in line, doing what the team needs apparently.
I’m just doing what’s being asked of me,” Love said. “I think I’ve kind of been doing that all year. I’ve been keeping my head up and keeping positive, glass half-full. And I’m just trying to impact the game in other ways as best I can. I think tonight I did that on the defensive end — stuff that doesn’t necessarily show up in the stat sheet, and I’ve been trying to rebound the ball and get inside the paint a little bit more these past few games.”
Love didn’t totally agree with James’ assessment.
I agree with both in a way. Love does need to be more confident with the ball. And even though he won’t say it. The Cavs are doing to Love what they did to Dion Waiters. Crushing his self esteem.
Just watch. If the Cavs don’t do well in the Playoffs. Kevin Love will be gone. Where to? I don’t know. But he won’t be in Ohio that’s for sure.
