The Cleveland Cavaliers have been through a whirl-wind of emotions this year. LeBron James come back and Kevin Love joins Kyrie Irving making on of the greatest trio’s if not the greatest trio in the game right now. They suck at the beginning of the season, even dipped below the .500 mark numerous times throughout 2014. Dion Waiters got traded, David Blatt started coaching, and awkwardly J.R Smith is playing like a rejuvenated player. They recently won 12 games in a row, until they lost to the Indiana Pacers. Everything seems to be turning into the right direction for the Cleveland Cavaliers, except for one aspect, Kevin Love.
Kevin love is completely struggling this year. He has not been the same player, people expected after being traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves. This season he is averaging 16 points (lowest in 4 years) 10.5 rebounds (lowest in 5 years) and Field Goal percentage which is 42%, the 2nd lowest in his career. He’s probably having the worst season of his career, and his back injuries aren’t helping.
According to Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com and his conversation with Kevin Love:
“There’s no blueprint for what I should be doing, but I’ll try my best to figure it out.”
When is he actually asked to be a scorer?
“That’s tough to answer,” he responded. “I don’t know. I just kind of go out there and play and affect the game. Right now, I’m trying to find my way.”
Love’s facial expression said it all. This up and down rollercoaster of a season is wearing on him.
“Oh yeah, definitely frustrating,” he admitted. “Yeah, I think it’s one of the toughest situations I’ve had to deal with, but at the end of the day we’re winning basketball games. I know tonight was different. At the same time, there’s no blueprint for what I should be doing, but I’ll try my best to figure it out.”
To be brutally honest, this is LeBron’s fault. Does everybody remember what happened to Chris Bosh? He came into the Miami Heat and started averaging career low’s but they worked it out, because Bosh began to understand his role, and he also began to understand that he will not be the number option on this team. Kevin Love needs to understand that, and focus on things that he can do well, like rebounding and shooting 3’s. The Cleveland Cavaliers turned things around, now it’s time for Kevin Love.
