Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love has battled through injuries for a good chunk of the season and now with the playoffs right around the corner, the big man will be sidelined again.
According to the Cavs, Love will be placed in the NBA concussion protocol after he showed concussion-like symptoms following a game against the Miami Heat:
Following Tuesday night’s front tooth subluxation in the first quarter and subsequently experiencing concussion-like symptoms at halftime and not returning to play, Cavaliers forward Kevin Love received additional evaluation Wednesday morning and has been placed in the NBA concussion protocol. He is OUT for Wednesday’s game in Charlotte vs. the Hornets and his status will be updated as appropriate.
This is just an additional and brutal blow for a team that has been marred by injuries and roster turn-around all season. A level of consistency with this current roster can’t seem to be reached and that lack of cohesiveness may cause issues come playoff time.
Kevin Love was also kept out of action earlier this season after he broke his hand and missed 20 games. Love’s return from that injury was a boost for a Cavs team desperate for any type of spark. Now with Love in the concussion protocol, it remains to be seen whether his head injury affects his availability in the playoffs.
