When Kevin Love was in Minnesota I loved him. (No pun intended) He was a constant force, a double-double machine. Unfortunately the team that surrounded him wasn’t up to par. He was in the position that DeMarcus Cousins is currently in.
But Love had a chance to get rings and be part of something great. He still does, but I genuinely think Chris Bosh cursed him. The 3rd wheel curse. The 1st year he had in Cleveland was aggravating. Not for him but me, every story that came up with his name on it was always him whining and I, probably like you, got tired of it real quick.
But fair on him, he’s changed his tune this year, but he still isn’t that double-double machine that he used to be. In his two seasons of being a Cavalier he hasn’t had a sniff of an All-Star selection. Even though that’s fact, he believes that he’s still All-Star calibre and doesn’t need to prove himself.
As for Love, he hasn’t made an All-Star game in two years since coming to the Cavs and has struggled to fit in so badly at times his stock has seemingly dropped in the world of public perception. He insists, however, he’s the same all-around elite talent he was when the Cavs acquired him from the Minnesota Timberwolves. His brief playoff career confirms that.
“I don’t need to justify what I’m capable of,” Love said. “Kind of the same thing with All-Star, too. I don’t need that to justify how I feel about my game and where I think my value is in this league. I know what I’m capable of. I’m willing to show it.”
Well my philosophy is this. If you didn’t get an All-Star selection or you were grade A snubbed, you’re not an All-Star calibre. You used to be All-Star calibre, but you’re not anymore. And it’s not like it was just this year. It’s been two seasons. And you ain’t “Minnesota Love” so by that logic you do need to justify something.
